Held the day before the AUA Summit, the Patient Advocacy Connections Program (PACP) in Washington, DC, is an event designed to expand, strengthen, and unify the voice of urologic patients. The day-long, in-person event brings together patient advocacy organizations, patients and care partners, and other leaders in healthcare policy to identify and discuss healthcare policy priorities and receive patient-centered advocacy training in preparation for meetings with lawmakers during the Summit. The event is designed to leave participants feeling empowered and well-versed in advocating for policy matters that impact them.

PACP participants will then join urologists at the AUA Summit, a program that includes in-person programming and a day of Capitol Hill meetings. Together, teams of patients and physicians amplify their voices by providing members of Congress with a comprehensive picture of the journey through the healthcare system, challenges accessing care, barriers to clinical practice, research, and clinical trials, and how legislation ultimately impacts patient outcomes. What to Expect

• Sunday, February 28: Presentations and discussions on the most pressing policy priorities impacting urologic patients, with patient-centered advocacy and lobbying trainings on what we are advocating for, why, and how to weave your personal experience in. The night ends with a networking reception, where participants will have the opportunity to meet and talk with physicians and industry leaders.
• Monday, March 1: General legislative sessions. Sessions with invited members of Congress, and plenary sessions moderated by policy leaders in the urologic community. Participants will gain persuasive advocacy skills designed to leave them feeling empowered and well-versed to demand change to improve healthcare and patient outcomes. The night will end with a grand reception.
• Tuesday, March 2: Participants will put their skills into action when they are teamed with one or more physicians and head out to Capitol Hill for a day of in-person meetings with their elected officials.
• Wednesday, March 3: (Optional) Attendees are strongly encouraged to stay until Wednesday, when we will spend the day covering physician-specific health policy issues and also hear a compelling keynote address. (Keynote speaker to be determined.)

Please note that all event registrants must be able to travel and come to Washington, DC for the entire duration of the events, including PACP (February 28) and the AUA Summit (March 1-3). If scheduling conflicts prevent you from doing so, you can let us know on the registration form.

How Much Will It Cost?

We are committed to elevating the patient voice, which is why we have worked hard to offset the cost of attending. There is no registration fee. Additionally, whether you are a patient, caregiver, or representative from a patient advocacy organization*, we will sponsor your attendance, coordinating and paying for your travel and accommodations. Patient sponsorships are limited, so register as soon as possible.

*Patient Advocacy Organization means mission-driven organizations with 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization status that serve patients with urologic conditions or diseases.
